This was the highlight of my visit! The drink called "gorilla's ass" was served in a giant carafe. It was delicious. The fish and chips that I ordered was amazing and the portions could feed two people. Seriously... I'm overweight and can put down food but I couldn't even finish half my meal. The chocolate cream pie was the BEST I've ever had. If you want a fresh greasy spoon with giant portions and good ambiance, go here! I forgot to mention the wait staff was sassy and hilarious. We are having a family reunion n Lincoln City and all 20+ of us are coming back!

Good place to pop in to watch a football game or get a crazy strong cheap drink. This place is frequented by locals and tourists alike. They have a great happy hour that goes til 7. The foods pretty questionable but not terrible. My favorite item being the 12 tacos for 4.95. Yes....they are small tacos but they do give you 12 of them. The fried items are very fried. If you are on a diet this is the wrong place for you. The bar does have a fireplace, boasts of nightly karaoke, and has plenty of other "bar" related items to keep someone entertained. The service was quick and reliable when we were there and everyone was very friendly. Worth it for cheap drinks while watching a game.

Staff in the bar wasn't very friendly, despite the 'no pissy attitude' sign hanging on the wall. Food wasn't great either.

Actually much better than we expected. Great drinks and very good fish and chips. The fettuccine alfredo is basic and doesn't have a lot of chicken but is good and cheesy.

Walking into this bar was a mistake. The bartender had a horrible attitude and was very unprofessional. She was too busy hitting on a customer to provide good service. The place was dead. Will not go back.

Lots and lots of space. Fairly divey. Dark. Cheap. Friendly enough. Covered smoking section out back. Nothing special but not many things are in this town.

My wife & daughter love the chowder here. It's not bad, but it's not great either. It looks like they have recently done some remodeling which is good. It is a little bit of a dive, but the updates have helped that. I will say that the service has always been friendly & on top of it. This is a OK spot to stop at.

I would give this more of a 3 1/2 if they had it. I have been in the bar area several times for karaoke. Perlesque is an amazing KJ. She has an enormous song list for both karaoke and dancing and really know how to keep the party going. The bar is huge and can get pretty packed but the bartenders really kick some serious tookus and keep the drinks flowing. The bummer is that this place always seems to attract some pretty brazen unsavories who clearly needed a mamma to teach them some manners. I've eaten in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Dinner food and service was ok, but breakfast? This guy was like Sybil...one minute a complete jackass and the next he was polite and attentive. The breakfast, however was pretty darn good.

For the available options in Lincoln City, this place isn't bad. The place definitely has a "Lincoln City" feel... What the food lacks in quality, more than makes up for in quantity. The portion sizes are huge. For what it is, the food is decent...just don't go in looking for a healthy meal. Waitress was nice - service was prompt.

Never disapointed for breakfast or lunch. Older, rustic decor. Reasonable prices for a lot of food! Looks like a fun place fo hangout for drinks, full bar, big screen.

Walked in and was greeted by surley, grunting bartender. We asked several questions to which each was answered with a grunt and "We're packed". and "you should go down the road". We left promptly and found a lovely place down the road to spend our money. Non-existent customer service!

Where to start? The waiter was friendly but had obviously been drinking. He wore a dirty shirt and kept rubbing his face. The carpet was very dirty and stained and the restaurant generaly could stand to be cleaned. The food was also a huge let down. My wife had the razor clams, They were tough, flavorless, and soaked in butter. I am a huge Chicken Fried Steak fanatic and was exstatic to see the big sign on the side of the building proclaiming "FAMOUS CHICKEN FRIED STEAK". Talk about being underwhelmed. It was burnt tasting, the gravy was obviously from a packet. The mixed corn and carrots that were with both our meals were obviously canned. My daughter had the only possitive experience. asside from part of her bacon cheese burger being burned, she liked it. To sum it up, we paid 50 bucks for a sub par meal. we won't be going back.

The very fact I started coughing when I walked in wasn't a good sign. The server was polite and attentive, but it appears that they haven't cleaned and deodorized since the "no smoking" law went into effect years ago. For those sensitive to residual smoke, forget about eating here. They did have a wide variety of food available. The burgers looked good, as did the fried seafood. I honestly didn't stay long enough to order, for I started coughing. The server was polite and understanding. Also, another spot that is open late.

  • Ian Z.

Really, really average. Would not have eaten here if not for the lack of options at 10 pm. Caesar salad drenched in packaged dressing and "calamari" was deep overfried chunks of indistinguishable flesh. Found a rubber band in my salad and was not offered so much as an apology. Service was quick though, so if you're looking for a quick sit down meal that is a half-step above fast food, look no further.

11:00 am on a beach vacation and you want a good damn breakfast! Maxwell's plays the opposite of Pig-n-Pancake. Walk in to the darkish interior - now smoke-free under Oregon law. Clearly, it caters to the drinking crowd at night, but during the day it serves hearty coastal breakfasts and lunches at prices far below its ever-changing seasonal competitors up and down 101. I had an enormous plate of corned beef hash (very good), two eggs, hash browns (just right) and rye toast (over buttered) for $8. Don't get me wrong. You can get a decent Bloody with your breakfast, if you desire. But it's also very kid-friendly and shows a lot of light through the windows during the day/ It lacks a gift shop, though...

Surprised at how delicious the special was. My English friend said it was the best fish and chips he has had inAmerica since coming 13 years ago. The service was excellent and they were accommodating for gluten-free.

I was here in April and wrote a poor review of the karaoke set-up. After visiting again in August, my opinion has changed. The Karaoke DJ ("Pearlesque") did a great job of handling a big crowd with lots of singers. People got their turns rapidly and therefore lots of people got to sing. The last guy took a ton of breaks and sang a lot. Not so the case with this gal. Much improved!

  • Emily E.

My girlfriends & I always hit up Maxwell's on Saturday night of our annual girl's weekend at the beach. It must be a law that you have to have a great voice to live in LC, as EVERYONE who sang karaoke was actually good (except for me!). They have strong drinks, decent service and fantastic people watching. Plus, they have a display case with knives for sale at the entrance that has a sign "no knife sales after 7:00 pm" HA! ...good to know

What happened to Maxwell's? We average 4 times a year eating dinner and singing some Karaoke at Maxwells, but that will change. On Friday we arrived at 10pm to find a few people dancing on the dance floor and nobody singing Karaoke! This was a shock since every other time I have been to Maxwell's there is a huge line to sing. We waited and waited but nobody ever went up to sing. We finally started it, but it seemed that really upset the dance party we broke up. The food was terrible. I don't know what else to say about that, but if you can mess up chicken quesadillas I am afraid to order fish from you. There was one bartender on (or at least that's all we saw), and she was in charge of the whole bar including food orders. The drinks were slow because of this and I recognize that wasn't her fault but the owners need to step it up in that department. I am assuming they have gone under new ownership within the past few years, and in my opinion it was not a good transition.

This dive bar with nightly karaoke which is exactly what my group was looking for. The drinks are cheap and our server was great. We hit this place two consecutive nights and both times there were equal parts of really terrible/ loud singers to really good singers. Not much in between which is fine because its karaoke and it comes with the territory. Definitely a couple creepy guys lurking around or just blatantly making a fool of themselves on the dance floor. They add to the overall experience. The KJ puts herself in the line of singers even when things are busy which we thought was a little weird. I can understand if things are slow and there are only three people singing but when there is an hour wait to sing it may be time for the paid help to step out for a few rounds. The song book is only listed by song title, not by artist so it's not really helpful. We ending up sticking our noses into our smartphones looking for song ideas. We never ordered any food.

My wife and I have had dinner at Maxwell's several times now in the past couple of years. We go there for their Razor Clams and Oysters. As a kid, I was raised on clams and now that I don't live on the coast, finding a place to get good Razor Clams is the highlight of my vacation. You get three clams here while I usually get two at all other places on the coast that I have ordered them at. They and the Oysters for my wife have been fixed perfectly for us each time. The waitress of 13 years there does a great job of giving us good fast service. She remembers me each visit and know my name. Food prices here are very moderate and affordable for everyone. I know nothing of the bar as that is not a place I frequent. I've seen bad reviews on the bar, so hopefully visitors will separate the reviews which would give the place more accurate review score.

It was my birthday weekend and my girlfriend took me to the coast. We were heading past L/C and decided to stop for lunch and decided to give Maxwells a shot. Well....it was a shot in the dark for sure as this dreary place has seen better days. We were greeted pleasantly enough by a waiter who was barely able to speak English, and by barely, I mean he just new hello and thank you. We were actually served by a grubby kid who was either the dish washer, or just never got around to washing his clothes. The booth we were led to had creaked and swayed when we sat down, and we are small people. The meal started pleasant enough with some steamers some bread and a salad. So we thought ok, this might not be so bad. Then the tragedy happened that were our entrees. Everything we ordered was frozen prepackaged foods. My GF ordered the fried scallops. It was a greasy plate of frozen fries and scallops with a small bowl of steamed frozen corn which had an off putting taste, which I surmised as being long overdue for the refuse bin, or they deliberately put vinegar on it thinking it would somehow make the corn more palatable. I had ordered the razor clams as the menu suggests is one of their specialties. I initially thought better of it when I questioned the waiter If they were frozen, and he couldn't tell me if they were or not. What I got was 3 pan fried razor clams that we're flavorless, greasy and chewy like shoe leather. I have eaten a lot of razor clams in my life, and this really hurt my feelings. Also on my plate were some greasy fried potatoes that were not cleaned properly and that horrible bowl of fetid corn. I am a fair person, but the only reason that I gave Maxwells 2 stars instead of one is that the steamers were ok. Save your money and your stomachs and avoid Maxwells.

The server was great, but the food was horrible. I ordered the clam chowder which was great, HOWEVER, then I dived into the prime rib special. IT. SUCKED. The steak wasn't cooked all the way; there was more fat than meat. The veggies were soggy and overcooked. The mashed potatoes were caked in garlic and tasted watered down. The only thing on that plate that was good was the plate itself; at least that has a use. At least the server didn't charge us.
